Original vintage L.&J.G. Stickley 42" diameter dining table with 4 original leaves. Excellent original finish to the base, the splined top has been professionally refinished by us with a thin, yet durable, protective finish. We adjust the table pins where the top opens at the edges of the leaves so that the table is very level & the leaves close tightly. The ray flake in the quarter-sawn oak top chosen at the factory around 1912 is especially fine & consistent. They chose each board with the "combed figure" which occurs when the medullary rays, or pith rays, run just shy of parallel to the top of the board. When they run evenly parallel, the ray flake is larger & more flamboyant, they are more subtle when not perfectly parallel. I can honestly say that this, in my opinion, is one of the better table tops we've seen in almost 30 years specializing in furniture from the Arts & Crafts period. We purchased this table along with the chairs, server & sideboard, from a relative of the original owners. The chairs are sold, but we will be listing the other pieces soon.
